About Us
Having three grown children, I was looking for a way to share my passion for the arts, something I could enjoy doing until I was 80…KidzArt is a perfect fit!
As my kids were growing up, we moved around the country and even did an international stint. I have seen and experienced many different educational systems and ideologies. One thing seemed to be missing. The joy of art.
So many times children are expected to perform without being given the tools. Draw the Mona Lisa... No wonder students get frustrated and discouraged. Drawing is not something only a few can do. It is a lot like handwriting, many of the same shapes and lines are in common. Drawing is also a way to communicate. A picture is the only means of communication that can present an idea or message all at once.
In the KidzArt classroom, the instructor helps students figure out how to draw, where to start, what is next, and how to add their own ideas. As I tell the students, there is no wrong or right in this class. In art, everyone has his or her own interpretation. The results are phenomenal. I have parents asking if their child traced this picture, but after looking at all the rest of the class’s interpretations, they know it all came from their student! As a result of parents asking, I also teach parent/grandparent child classes. We all have a ball!
Drawing helps students learn that anything is achievable if you take it one step at a time and keep working. I am always amazed by the work that my students produce!
